Short report with more to come

I moved to the Netherlands in autumn 2007, and of course needed some place to live. Since renting in the Netherlands is incredibly expensive, i decided to go and buy a cheap little house close to Groningen, where i work. I used Meeùs makelaars in Groningen as real estate agents. From the outset, everything went complicated and really slow. I got information i needed late and had to always quickly get documents because they had forgotten to tell me. E.g., i needed a life insurance to get a mortgage, and i had to ride back to Bielefeld, where i then still had all my documents, during the week just to get my doctors' reports. It is standard in the Netherlands that you need a life insurance to get a mortgage, but they just didn't tell me in advance.
On the day AFTER i moved into my house, which was the day before i actually signed the contract at the notary, Meeùs called me in the office and told me that "there was a problem". It turned out that they had made a mistake in calculating the mortgage, and that i needed EUR 10,000 (at that time roughly $ 13,000) more until NEXT DAY.
DON'T USE MEEÙS GRONINGEN IF YOU INTEND TO BUY A HOUSE!
